Treasurer
Morag Murray was proposed as treasurer by D Pratt, and this was seconded by H Martin. B Siwek to continue as 100 Club co-ordinator. D Pratt was thanked for all his hard work over the years.
Polytunnel
Has been ordered and now just awaiting delivery. Kenny to speak to N Burrows re tree trimming.
Youth Club Hall Rental Money
F Macvicar to provide D Pratt with a list of the dates when Youth Club used the Hall. D Pratt will then send an invoice out to F Macvicar.
Storage for Mother/Toddler Group
Discussed buying a storage bin. Decided instead to investigate possibility of creating a cupboard in the kitchen, below the balcony and beside the stairs. Kenny to speak to I Beaton and T Barrett about this.
Lighting
Outside light- wooden post is rotten and needs replaced. Female toilet- strip light is working erratically.
Toilet Upgrade
Can we get a grant to upgrade the toilets and make them disable-friendly? Agreed to look into this, and discuss further at next meeting.
Community Council
Catriona Leslie to be contacted for advice on next steps re resurrection of community council.

The Braes Hall committee was voted in at the May AGM, and is as follows;

The committee meets regularly to deal with all aspects of the functioning of the hall. If you wish to offer any comments or suggestions, or indeed wish to help out in any way, please get in touch with any member of the committee.

Events The Curry and Quiz Night, due to take place in March, was postponed.
Electrics Scottish Hydro Electric took a look. Conclusion? The heaters are too powerful. Hall users are to be made aware of the problem, and to use electrics sparingly. Further consultation required with view to a long-term solution.
100 Club The draw for March was made:

Apologies: Stewart Wilkie Recycling A blue recycling bin has recently arrived. Roof Tom and Ian still to investigate. Events 26th February- OAP Soup/ Pudding Evening to be run by Youth Club 25th March- Curry and Quiz Night to be run by Youth Club Equipment Plates and dishes have been donated to the Hall. Electrics Still problems with the electric supply. Bodach has been contacted, but hasn’t got back to us. 100 Club Bob Siwek was proposed and seconded as the new promoter of the 100 Club, taking over from David Pratt with immediate effect. The draw for February was made:

Kitchen Equipment The cooker, fridge and microwave oven have arrived.
100 Club Bob Siwek is willing to take over as coordinator, with immediate effect.
Events Ceilidh to be organised by the Youth Club- 30th December. Clothes Swap Party in aid of Crohn’s Society- 26th November.
Roof the roof has been leaking recently. Tom and Ian Beaton will investigate.
Mother and Toddler Group David to ask Claire Deplano whether anyone would like to represent the group at committee meetings.
Polytunnel A grant of £1200 has been awarded to the Youth Club to purchase a polytunnel and irrigation system. Work will begin in February. K Macdonald said the idea was for it to be used by the whole community, and not just by the Youth Club.
Hall Equipment New first aid kit and hoover required. Hamish to purchase. New cups, glasses, plates etc needed. It was agreed to spend £200-£250. Kenny to look into this.
Electrics Hall users have reported problems with the electrics. Kenny to speak to Caberfeidh Electrics. The possibility of installing a sensor light at the front gate was discussed. Kenny to mention this to Caberfeidh Electrics.
OSCR (Charities Regulator) A letter was received saying our annual return did not include the required information. It was accepted though, on the premise that the required information be included next year. The main omission on our part was a trustees’ annual report.

Kitchen Equipment The Hall has been offered a second hand cooker, fridge and microwave oven for £100. Hall Fund will pay for it. Kenny to arrange collection.
Treasurer David Pratt will shortly be leaving the area. A new treasurer will therefore be required, as well as a co-ordinator for the 100 Club and a collector of monies from Gedintailor to Achnahanaid. The committee is to actively seek willing people.
Hall Programme A line dancing group meets on Tuesday, and a mother and toddler group meets on Friday. These groups will hopefully continue to meet throughout the Winter. It is hoped that a Burns Supper can be organised for January. The Youth Club will continue to organise various fundraising activities.
Building Warrant A 2007 building warrant for toilet alterations recently expired. It was decided not to renew it as the cost was £50.

Braes Hall Committee Meeting 14th June 2010

Ceilear Tour The Hall has been approached about hosting this annual musical event. It would cost £150, but all profits would go to the Hall. After discussion, K Macdonald and F Macvicar proposed organising it on behalf of the Youth Club. Date to be confirmed, although evening of the 15th July is a possibility.
Baha’i Group The above group from the Western Isles asked about the possibility of accommodation in the Hall on the 3-4 July, and 8-9 July. They would pay £200. This was given the go ahead, and D Pratt was going to inform them.
Private Parties Committee discussed the over-running of a recent party, and the mess left afterwards.
Hall Clean D Pratt suggested the Hall needed a good cleaning, and it was agreed this would be on Wednesday 23rd June at 7pm. T Barrett to organise a trailer to remove old materials.
Braes Hall History A member of the public enquired via the website about the history of the Hall. H Martin will contact the Skye and Lochalsh Archive Centre in the Elgin Hostel to see if they have any information.

Louise Kerr has left the area and is therefore unable to continue as Secretary. Everyone present expressed their appreciation for the hard work Louise put in over the last twenty years, and agreed that her departure would be a big loss to the community.
Finance
S Wilkie handed out copies of the Treasurer’s Account for the financial year ended. The 100 Club and Hall Bookings continue to provide good sources of income.

Toilet Problems
S Wilkie to speak to Sandra Macdonald (Highland Council) about situation re sewage system. Blockages this year have cost the Hall a good deal of money to remedy, but it was noted that these problems are not new, and have happened a few times in the past.
Dion Fire Safety
A representative was unable to gain access to the Hall to inspect fire safety equipment. Tom Barrett will contact Dion to arrange a suitable time.
Polytunnel
K Macdonald asked about the possibility of the Youth Club erecting a polytunnel inside the wall boundary in order to grow vegetables. Those present agreed that this was a good idea.
Marine Harvest
S Wilkie brought to everyone’s attention an open meeting Marine Harvest are holding in the Hall (25/5/10) re their Balmeanach fish farm. K Macdonald wondered whether the Community Council could be resurrected, as this platform is useful in situations such as this.
Youth Club
K Macdonald and F Macvicar reported that Youth Club continues to be well attended. Thanks was given to K Macdonald and F Macvicar for their running of the Club.
