Clothes Swap Party, Saturday 4th DecemberWell done to Rhona & Linda who raised £300 for Chrones disease at their successful clothes swap party on Saturday 4th December. Bingo & Soup n' Pudding Wednesday 3rd November 2010 The Youth Club kicked off its series of monthly social events with a prize bingo night, preceded by soup and pudding. Live entertainment was provided by singers Rebecca Macdonald and Eilidh Cormack, and accordionist Ceitidh Douglas. The event was filmed by the BBC for their programme The Great British Menu, with the theme of food that linked communities. Chef Michael Smith from The Three Chimney's restaurant made an appearance, but was outshone in a Pavlova bake-off by local baker, Rhona Macdonald. The programme is due to be aired in April 2011. Many thanks to all those who attended and supported the event. Thanks also to Rebecca, Eilidh and Ceitidh. A Car Boot sale raised £155 for the Red Cross Haiti Fund. Thanks to Wilma Macdonald & Mary Moir for organising the event. The Youth club raised £140 on the same day for club funds. A Ladies Clothes swap event raised over £360 for the British Heart Foundation. Thanks to organiser Rhona Cairns. May 2007Youth Club Curry Night a Great Success! The Braes Youth Club enjoyed a successful fundraising event recently, when they played host to a curry night in the Braes hall. The event was very well attended with over 70 guests turning up to support the Youth Club. Around £150 was raised at the event for Youth Club funds. During the evening Youth Club members served up their own variations on spiced potatoes. Nathan Jones from Camustianavaig succeeded in winning the pudding prize, with his take on Key Lime pie. Organiser Sir James Cryer said, “who will win it next?” The search continues…..
Macleans of Raasay ExhibitionAn exhibition of early photos, archives and resource materials featuring the Macleans of Raasay was held in the Braes Hall on the 28th- 30th March 2007. This included a new portrait of Somhairle Maclean by Dutch artist Fred Scholey.
